Tina Vandersteel on the Meb Faber Show

EM Local Debt: A Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity?

Overview

GMO Head of Emerging Country Debt, Tina Vandersteel joined Meb Faber in February to discuss what the team believes may be a once-in-a-generation opportunity in emerging market local debt. Indeed, with USD overvaluation at relative extremes, EM local debt can be a powerful way to capitalize on this strong and ongoing tailwind for non-dollar assets as a supplement to both EM equities and other asset classes. In this podcast, Tina provides an overview of the broad EM debt asset class, describes why she believes that EM local currency debt deserves a prominent place in portfolios today, and offers her take on China.
